Mich. man returns home after being stuck overseas (AP)

ROMULUS, Mich. ? A prominent Arab-American businessman from Michigan who says he spent more than a year as an "economic hostage" in Qatar (KAH'-tur) is finally back home.

The Detroit Free Press and WDIV-TV report Nasser Beydoun (NA'-ser bay-DOON') arrived Thursday at Detroit Metropolitan Airport.

After being greeted by his wife and children, the 47-year-old Beydoun and his family headed to dinner at his mother's house in Dearborn Heights.

Beydoun joined a Qatari (kuh-TAHR'-ee) investment group in 2007 to open restaurants in the Middle East. The U.S. citizen said in March he'd been unable to leave because of a dispute with his ex-boss, despite prevailing in court proceedings.

Beydoun sought help from members of Michigan's congressional delegation, who wrote U.S. and Qatari officials on his behalf.
