PARIS (AP) ? French lawmakers are nearing passage of a law on sexual harassment, more than two months after the country's previous one was thrown out by a court ? and all pending cases along with it.
In the meantime, women in France have been without recourse ? something the government hopes will change soon.
The French Assembly, which takes up the law today, is the same place where last week a female member of the Cabinet faced hoots and catcalls, apparently for wearing a brightly colored dress in session.
Women's rights advocates say they fear the law could be a hard sell for those under pressure to keep their jobs in a difficult economy.
