(AP) ? The top-seeded players had early starts at the French Open on Wednesday, and both Novak Djokovic and Victoria Azarenka made it to the third round without a problem.

A short time later, 2009 champion Roger Federer joined them, earning his record-breaking 234th victory at Grand Slam tournaments.

Djokovic was first up on Court Suzanne Lenglen, and he was barely troubled by Blaz Kavcic of Slovenia, winning 6-0, 6-4, 6-4 for his 23rd straight Grand Slam victory.

"I gave him the opportunity to come back to the match after a perfect first set, first seven games," Djokovic said. "But, look, this is tennis."

Federer had an easy run in the first two sets, but wasted two match points in the third. He saved all six break points to beat Adrian Ungur of Romania 6-3, 6-2, 6-7 (6), 6-3 on Court Philippe Chatrier.

The 16-time Grand Slam champion broke a tie with Jimmy Connors for most career wins at major tournaments in the Open era, which began in 1968. He is now 234-35 in tennis' top four tournaments, an .870 winning percentage.

In the main stadium at Roland Garros, Azarenka defeated Dinah Pfizenmaier of Germany 6-1, 6-1 ? two days after struggling to win her opening match.

"Being No. 1 is a difficult job, because everybody want to catch you, everybody want to move you from the spot," Azarenka said. "Nothing is going to come easy just because you're No. 1. You actually have more people ... motivated trying to beat you."

Later Wednesday, No. 3 Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland was to face Venus Williams.

Djokovic is looking to win his fourth straight Grand Slam title, and first at Roland Garros. Last year, the Serb lost to Federer in the semifinals, ending his 43-match winning streak.

On Wednesday, Djokovic was broken once by Kavcic, but otherwise had little trouble. He did, however, finish the match with 34 unforced errors, almost twice as many as Kavcic's 21.

"He was defending really well in the second and third set, especially in the second," Djokovic said. "He wasn't missing as many balls as in the first set."

    No. 9 Juan Martin del Potro beat Edouard Roger-Vasselin of France 6-7 (5), 7-6 (3), 6-4, 6-4.

Azarenka, who took over the No. 1 ranking after winning the Australian Open, easily advanced against Pfizenmaier, a 20-year-old German who was making her Grand Slam debut.

In the first round, Azarenka struggled early before winning 12 of the final 14 games to advance. She committed 60 unforced errors in that opening match, but brought that number down to only 11 on Wednesday.

"Definitely played much better today," said Azarenka, who reached the quarterfinals at Roland Garros last year, matching her best performance at the clay-court Grand Slam.

U.S. Open champion Sam Stosur also advanced, beating Irina Falconi of the United States 6-1, 6-4.

Building Web Traffic: Why You Should Keep a Keen Eye on Online Business Ethics

    Article by M. Moume

For quite some time now, I have been doing lots of research on the ways that an online business person can use to get web traffic for their websites. Being in the online business myself, I have been trying out most of these methods. True, some of them, like SEO, article marketing, use of email lists and social media marketing, have worked very well. I however noted something that is of really great importance. I could not hold this back as I have come to realize that it is where most of the online business people have been going wrong. That is why I put together this traffic guide for you. Read on.The web traffic techniques that you have read about will work well only if your business sticks to and strictly observes online business ethics. You should keep in mind that it is human beings that will be reading your web content and not machines. Besides the ability that human beings have to make judgments they are also very sensitive about ethics. For this reason, making efforts to increase traffic to your website without observing ethics would do your business more bad than good. Are you wondering what kind of ethics I am talking about? Well, I will give you a few examples of what you should strictly observe.1. Do not promise what you cannot deliverMost online businesses have a sales page aimed at converting the web traffic into customers. This is where you let your potential customers know about your products and convince them why they should buy the products from your website. It is in this page that you tell your clients what to expect from you. You should never make the mistake of promising what you clearly know that you cannot deliver just to impress the customers. If you try that, they would soon find out and you should not be surprised to see a review of your business calling it a scam, a few days later. 2. Appreciate your clientsThe fact that the business is online does not make it any different from the other businesses. Why then should you not smile at your online customers in warm welcome the same way you would in brick and mortar business? Are you asking how you can do that? Simple, just have a nice homepage on your business web having welcoming words and may be images. You can even have a short welcome video done by a real human being

Low-Cost Kitchen Improvements for Any Home

Not every home owner can splurge on a total upscale kitchen redo, now pegged on average at $111,000, according to the latest Cost vs. Value Report from Remodeling magazine. Many home owners don?t even have the funds for a minor kitchen remodeling project, which is placed at around $20,000.

But a lack of funds isn?t necessarily the only issue. Even home owners with fat wallets and a love of congregating and cooking in a stylish kitchen may not want to invest so much, given the up-and-down nature of today?s housing market.

Specifically, two factors are holding back home owners from taking on kitchen redos:

? There?s no guarantee that prospective buyers will like, say, the sellers? tangerine-painted walls ? even if orange is oh-so-chic these days ? or that a restaurant-style range will win them over, especially if they?re better at calling for reservations or take-out.

? The dollars invested may never be recouped, no matter how long home owners stay put. An upscale overhaul will return only about 57 percent of the money spent on the project, and a mid-range redo about 66 percent, according to the Cost vs. Value Report.

But the good news for those who still feel their current kitchen won?t do is that there?s loads of inspiration to appeal and borrow ideas from ? those handsome rooms shown in the background of Food Network programs and other TV shows and movies, for example, or glossy home and design magazines.

The kitchen remains an important gathering space for many home owners ? and one of the first places would-be-buyers look to decide if they?re interested in a purchase. Because of that, it should be a goal to make the kitchen as nice as possible with the funds at hand. Even if a seller or real estate agent has $20,000, $10,000, or just $5,000 to spend, those dollars can deliver a lot to make the kitchen look and function better.

Here are a dozen low-cost ideas you and your clients can use to improve this critical room:

? Paint remains the least expensive change agent. Home owners should take their cue from other colors in the room that are likely to stay ? the ?nonperishables,? says Chicago-based designer Mary Lou Kalmus. It might come from the backsplash or floor tile, or if the entire room is swathed in neutrals, it could be colors in the rest of the house, such as in an adjacent family room. Because the kitchen gets heavy use, it?s best if they use at least an eggshell rather than a flat finish.

? Backsplash tiles can be replaced, but Kalmus suggests home owners do so from the base of the upper cabinets down to the countertop ? a full 18 inches is recommended. Top on her list of favorite choices are glass or newer-looking metallic tiles. She also suggests running them vertically rather than horizontally for a less-expected look.

? Replacing a countertop or two can help a room make an instant, fresh impression. And if money?s tight, home owners can go with a laminate rather than granite. To prevent laminate from scratching or showing burn marks, a textured choice is best.

? Tell clients to go with decor icons such as stainless steel that tend to appeal universally, says design expert and author Christopher Lowell, based in Santa Fe, N.M. They can start by replacing some dated and dysfunctional appliances with purchases at places like Sears or Costco, which offer professional-style models that bring a restaurant look at affordable prices. Once home owners introduce stainless options, they may want to run with the idea throughout ? e.g., paper towel holders, trash cans, and cookware, Lowell says.

? If all the older appliances can?t be replaced, home owners might be wise to focus on one or two, which can still make a difference. Because the refrigerator may be the largest item in the room, Kalmus suggests changing it first if it?s old or small and considering a model with French doors, which offers the plus of storing larger items inside both the refrigerator and freezer sections and having a freezer on the bottom. For highly efficient cooking, plus the advantage of having instant on-off heat, an induction cooktop is another wise new appliance choice, though the newer technology often costs more. And even a new hood that?s more updated or visually interesting can provide a good focal point, says Los Angeles?area designer Christoper Grubb, president of Arch-Interiors Design Group.

? Betterlighting can make a huge difference in how much time home owners want to spend in their kitchen and how well it shows to buyers. The best spaces incorporate three essential layers: recessed lighting for an overall effect, with 4-inch rather than 6-inch cans for a less obtrusive look; undercabinet lights to perform tasks, with efficient LEDs or xenon bulbs for quality and energy efficiency; and a decorative fixture or two for mood-making such as pendants, sconces, or a chandelier. Bulbs should depend on manufacturers? recommendations, but now often are halogens or incandescents. ?The decorative choices can add a new design vocabulary to the room,? says San Francisco architect Christian Dauer.

? Small 8-inch floor tiles can quickly date a room, as can busy patterns. So replacing them with 16- to 22-inch porcelain floor tiles may make good economic and design sense, as well as decrease maintenance. A bigger budget may permit natural stone. Dauer is keen on wood floors since they?re easy on feet and favors bamboo and cork or a repeat of a wood used elsewhere in the home.

? Top on the ?get-rid-of list? for many home owners are dark, dated cabinets. But since cabinetry represents 60 percent of many kitchen remodeling budgets, it?s often not possible to replace it totally. Several possibilities exist: Replace the doors or take a less expensive route and repaint them, suggests Kalmus, who also offers some caveats. Be sure the interiors still offer enough room and work well, or else the solution is just a temporary Band-Aid she says, and be sure the paint will cover well since sometimes it won?t if they?re very dark. ?Full-overlay doors, for example, usually can be refaced, but the sides may first need sanding and prepping,? Dauer says. For a different punch, Lowell suggests replacing one or two doors in frosted glass within stainless steel frames, while Grubb throws out the idea of removing the fronts completely for a European look. In most cases, new spiffy knobs can make a huge improvement.

? For those without sufficient storage??a common complaint of older or poorly arranged kitchens ? try finding a closet even if not right in the kitchen but in an adjacent space. The best pantries are equipped with shelves of different heights to arrange a variety of canned goods and with pull-out drawers to make reaching to the back easier.

? Because open layouts are high on many buyers? wish lists, taking down a wall or part of one between a kitchen and adjacent space should be considered if the kitchen is small and closed in and the wall isn?t a load-bearing, supporting one. Be careful that vents aren?t running through it, or be prepared to replace them, Kalmus says. If this isn?t possible, home owners might change out windows or doors for better light, views, and insulation. A new greenhouse-style window can become a spot to grow herbs and small plants.

? If home owners have room for an island, but are tight on funds, they might buy a gleaming, stainless-steel, counter-height table from a local restaurant supply store with a shelf underneath, add a few chopping boards from the same supply, and create a professional-looking center they can take with them, says Lowell. This addition also helps free other countertops of clutter.

? If the ultimate goal still is to gain a brand new kitchen when dollars permit, a better use of limited funds may be to hire an architect or designer skilled in kitchen planning to draw up a detailed layout that can be bid out later. Many design pros charge a flat fee or hourly rate. Dauer says the price will vary depending on the part of the country, size of the room, wish list, and extent of the remodeling work ? if plumbing or HVAC systems need to be changed or walls taken down. His best guess is from $135 on up per hour. Chicago architect Allan J. Grant pegs it at between $90 and $150, depending on the person?s experience, plus reimbursable expenses.

Google patents view augmentation method and glasses, sees what you cannot

Google continues to keep our friends down at the US Patents and Trademark Office busy with its latest filing, involving augmented reality and a pair of relatively staid (at least by these sketches) pair of glasses. The patent outlines a system where a view-finder could identify what we're gawking at, adding in extra factual details and also outlining new points of interest -- including those that aren't necessarily within the view of our own eyes. The glasses would then be able to notify us with a medley of visual indicators and cues (including the slightly awkward notion of light-up frames), guiding our gaze to something we'd hopefully want to take a look at.

There's more to Google's latest idea than simple tourist-centric finger-pointing though, also looking to augment how we read. The device would detect when someone is reading from a digital display and even feel out the rest of the information currently out of view. It would then direct readers to points of interest; possibly pictures, possibly those important factual nuggets -- the patent still plays loose with the specifics. But if you're into such vague and fanciful product description, you can take a look at the full filing at the source below.

The police use of stun guns increases the risk of injuries for those on the receiving end, but tends to increase officer safety, according to the most comprehensive study of such devices to date.

But when officers use stun guns in conjunction with other restraint methods, they also face an increase risk of injury.

Those are the conclusions of two joint studies from the University of Central Florida and Michigan State University recently published in the journals, Justice Quarterly and Police Quarterly.

The studies looked at injuries associated with conducted energy devices , also known as stun guns. CEDs produce an electrical charge up to 50,000 volts and can be deployed by pressing the device against a person or by shooting two probed darts at a person from a distance. The charge temporarily immobilizes individuals. Their use has been controversial because of some reported deaths following the use of stun guns, as well as their use on vulnerable citizens such as pregnant women, the elderly, and children.

The UCF/MSU team analyzed nearly 14,000 incidents from seven agencies in their studies. Of those, CEDs were used in more than 2,600 cases.

"The bottom line is there in an increased risk to citizens," said Gene Paoline a UCF associate professor of criminal justice and one of the authors of the studies. "On the other hand, the devices increase the safety of officers when used as the sole method of restraint. In essence, we have to consider the costs of citizen harm versus benefits of officer safety. It is something for police agencies to weigh when setting up policies on their use, or whether or not to even use them at all. CEDs may not be the silver bullet some make them out to be."

The use of CEDs has been increasing since the late 1970s. A 2008 study by the National Institute of Justice reported that roughly 11,500 law enforcement agencies have CEDs, with approximately 260,000 in use.

Studies in the past have shown that the use of CEDs was safer because more forceful methods were avoided, such as using a gun. But those who question such findings, such as Paoline and colleagues, point out that injuries weren't correctly being counted in many of those studies. They contend that a suspect's lacerations, burns and abrasions that are the result of the discharge of the device should be counted as injuries. Others say that those minor injuries should not be counted because they are an expected outcome of the weapon.

"An injury is an injury," he said. "If we count a laceration from hand cuffing, or a bruise from a baton, we have to do the same for the CED."

The team's research showed that citizens were injured 41 percent of the time when CEDs were used as the only type of force and 47 percent of the time when CEDs were used in conjunction with another form of force. That compares to people being injured 29 percent of the time when no CEDs were used.

Collaborators on the studies include: Michigan State University associate professor William Terrill and Illinois State University assistant professor Jason Ingram. The National Institute of Justice funded the studies, which looked at use of all less-than lethal-force.

Paoline joined UCF in 2001. He has multiple degrees including a Ph.D. in Criminal Justice from the University at Albany, State University of New York. His research specialty focuses on policing and theoretical development in criminal justice. He is the author of Rethinking Police Culture (2001, LFB Scholarly Publishing), and a frequent presenter at conferences on the topics of police use of force, police culture, and the occupational attitudes of criminal justice personnel.

All Maryland NCAA lacrosse final as the Terps top Duke, 16-10

    FOXBOROUGH, Mass. ??

? Monday's NCAA tournament final will be an all-Maryland affair.

The Maryland men's lacrosse team punched its ticket to the national title game with a 16-10 thumping of No. 3 seed Duke on Saturday evening before an announced 31,774 at Gillette Stadium.

The Terps, who advanced to the tournament final as an unseeded team for the second consecutive season, will meet No. 1 seed Loyola at 1 p.m. Monday. The Greyhounds (17-1) outlasted No. 4 seed Notre Dame, 7-5, earlier in the day.
Monday's title game will feature two teams from Maryland for the first time since 1979 when Johns Hopkins defeated the Terps, 15-9. Loyola will play for its first championship since 1990 when it lost to Syracuse, 21-9. Maryland, which won NCAA crowns in 1973 and 1975, fell to Virginia, 9-7, last year.

For the second straight year, Maryland ? which improved to 12-5 ? beat the Blue Devils in the national semifinal round. Almost a year ago, the Terps defeated Duke, 9-4, at M&T Bank Stadium.

Junior midfielder Kevin Cooper paced Maryland with one goal and four assists. Senior midfielder Drew Snider scored four times ? his third hat trick in three NCAA tournament games this spring, and senior attackman Joe Cummings added one goal and three assists.

Shooting efficiency was a huge factor in the Terps' victory. They scored four goals on five shots in the second quarter and 16 goals on just 29 shots for the contest.

?I just think we were finding each other in good spots on the field,? said Snider, who has scored 10 goals in the tournament. ?We all felt really comfortable with our offensive game plan. I thought we were very organized.?

Coach John Tillman said the players have the green light to shoot with the caveat that they have to make smart decisions and also consider whether they might be putting the defense at risk if that unit had to defend a long possession.

?If you feel like you have an opportunity, go,? Tillman said. ?We can't win if guys are worried about me yanking them or yelling at them. So I think players need to play, and we give them good guidance all week.?

The Terps, who also earned a berth in the tournament final in 1997, never trailed against the Blue Devils, who never got closer than one goal with 27.5 seconds left in the first quarter.

After Maryland scored the first two goals of the third quarter to take a 9-4 advantage, Duke went on a 4-1 run to trim the deficit to 10-8 with 13:34 left in the fourth period. But the Terps scored six straight goals to cement the outcome.

Duke (15-5) was led by senior midfielder Justin Turri, who posted two goals and one assist. But Wolf, who entered the game leading the team in both assists (31) and points (63), was limited to two assists by freshman defenseman Goran Murray. Wolf had not scored a goal against Maryland in the teams' previous two meetings this season.

Blue Devils coach John Danowski said he sensed a wave of confidence from the Terps bench that his team couldn't match.

?I thought they were much more confident than we were,? he said. ?I thought that it was very different, and we know that. Maryland kids are tough and rugged young men and very confident. And I thought our guys backed down a little bit at times and were not as confident as they've been. But again, [that's] perhaps due to how well Maryland was playing.?

A Real Good Deal ? Build a Free Website For Completely Free With ...

For the penniless, it?s quite hard to start and run a business. Of course, one needs a capital to gain profits in the business process. But do you know that you can start a business online-for free? You can build a free website for completely free with free domain name. How about that for a good start-up business? Let?s find out how it works.

Internet marketing can be an expensive venture for a new entrepreneur. When you opted to build a free website for completely free with free domain, chances are you were seeking for a good deal that will launch you to business success without having the need to spend so much. Presumably, this will only apply to beginners and small businesses. With a free website provider, you can create and customize your own website that will serve as your online business portal. You can use the website to display your goods like in a store window or a product catalogue. A business that renders services can also be promoted in a website.

To create your business website, you must register first to a website builder that offers a complete website service for free. This will save you from having to transfer from one platform provider to another in order to get it done. For example, one website builder can only provide you with free website but not the website hosting so you will have to search again. This is so hassle. A complete-service website provider will be give you a domain name (your own), a domain host, a website and a website host all in one transaction. You don?t have to worry about the whole process because the website provider will assist you up to the last detail.

When choosing a free website provider, always consider the quality of the websites they offer. In fairness to them, they are always trying to come up with good-looking and sophisticated websites to meet their clients? needs. But still, you have to make sure that your website will suit the kind of business that you have. Never use colorful skins, unimportant tools and unnecessary webpage features to your business website. Choose the website provider that offers an ad-free website to minimize unimportant details in every page.

To maximize the capacity of your business website, pick on a website provider that offers a generous amount of web space. Some free website providers have storage capacities of up to 5 gigabytes. You can make use of this space to build more complex web pages. Website builders that are capable of improving site traffic are helpful. If you know how to manage your site traffic, your business will surely benefit from it. Also, a free business website that has Meta tags support will have a great chance of landing the first page of a search engine.

There are more special features that you can avail when you start to build a free website for completely free with free domain name. All of those perks will prove relevant to the success of your business.

Before bid, USOC must 1st choose summer or winter

The IOC and the USOC announced a new revenue-sharing agreement that will govern the financial relationship between the two parties beginning in 2020. (AP Photo/The Canadian Press, Francis Vachon)

(AP) ? Now that they've made peace with their international partners on the financial front, leaders at the U.S. Olympic Committee must decide whether to try to bring an upcoming Olympics to America.

The key to that decision will be weighing the pros and cons of bidding for a Winter Games versus a Summer Games ? a debate that will begin in earnest when the USOC board meets next month in the Bay Area.

Two people with knowledge of how the USOC decision-making process would work told The Associated Press that members of the U.S. delegation were being urged by international leaders last week, during private conversations at meetings in Quebec City, to think seriously about the Summer Games in 2024.

Those people spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the bid decision is made privately.

"In anything you do with this, where there's a lot at stake and you've accomplished something extremely important and you've got momentum swinging in a different direction, you go for the top," one of the people said of trying for a Summer Olympics instead of a Winter Games. "Don't sell yourself short."

On Thursday, the USOC announced it had solved one of its core problems with the IOC: rewriting the formula for revenue sharing through 2040.

The USOC had said it wouldn't consider a bid for any Olympics until the revenue issue was resolved. Now that it is, CEO Scott Blackmun said the "strategy is to develop a strategy."

The momentum for a U.S. Summer Games bid will be weighed against what would be a less-expensive path, and likely one with fewer obstacles ? a bid for the 2022 Winter Olympics.

Denver, which has formed an exploratory committee, would likely enter that process as a favorite, with Reno-Lake Tahoe, Bozeman, Mont., and Salt Lake City also considering bids. The USOC would have to start from scratch in the search for a summer city, with New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Dallas among the most likely candidates, said both people familiar with the USOC process.

One of those people said there would be no drawn-out, public domestic bid process, as there was for the 2016 Games, when Chicago spent nearly $10 million to win the USOC phase, then went on to an embarrassing last-place finish in a contest ultimately won by Rio de Janeiro.

Others in the U.S. Olympic circle believe that the IOC always has more difficulty finding countries to host the Winter Games and that IOC leaders would look kindly upon a solid winter candidate from the United States, such as Denver.

"I think our strategy should be, let's host a Winter Games, a Pan-Am Games, a few meaningful world championships," USA Gymnastics president Steve Penny said. "That's the kind of stuff we need to do to someday bring a Summer Games back here."

As the United States has learned, bidding for an Olympics is fraught with obstacles and political hurdles ? and they don't always go away when you win.

The last two Olympics on American soil were filled with problems: Atlanta (1996) took a bad rap as being too commercialized and spread out, while Salt Lake City (2002) had a massive bid scandal.

The USOC has not, in the past, been able to provide a financial guarantee from its federal government ? an issue that should not be taken lightly, according to both people with knowledge of the process. Chicago had city and state guarantees for the 2016 bid, though it's hard to guess, in retrospect, whether that helped, hurt or made no difference in the city's last-place finish.

It remains a big unknown whether Chicago or New York, which got rejected for the 2012 Games, would want to jump through the IOC hoops after what's happened in the past.

And IOC President Jacques Rogge, who will be long gone by the time the 2024 bid process starts, has repeatedly said bringing an Olympics to the African continent is a priority for the IOC. There are no African candidates for 2020, which means the next Olympic bid process could pit an American city against one trying to bring the games to Africa for the first time.

There's still time to consider a summer bid, but if the USOC wants to pursue the Winter Games, the clock is ticking. The 2022 Olympics will be awarded in 2015.

Denver has many facilities in place and has improved its international reputation over the past several years. The high-profile, international SportAccord meetings held in Quebec City last week took place in Denver in 2009, and the city got good reviews.

Denver remains, however, the only city to be awarded an Olympics then give them back. The 1976 Winter Games in Innsbruck, Austria, were originally slated for the Mile High City. Denver voters chose to give them back because of concerns over cost, urban sprawl and pollution.

"You could take the safe route and go with Denver, but that issue is still there and it will be used whether they think it will or not," one of the people familiar with the process said. "Americans have come a long way since then. But they need to be watertight with the city they pick. To have an exposure like that, I'm not saying it's a fatal flaw, but it's a weakness that will be exposed because there still a perception, right or wrong, that the United States is only in it for the money."

Joplin Hospital Honors 2011 Tornado Survivors

JOPLIN, Mo. (AP) - The Joplin, Mo., hospital where hundreds of injured residents sought help after a deadly tornado struck the town one year ago today is honoring its staff, rescue workers and storm survivors at a memorial service.

Freeman Hospital held a sunrise service Tuesday morning on a day marked by a series of public events in Joplin. The tornado killed 161 people and destroyed one-third of the city, making it the nation's deadliest single tornado in six decades.

Freeman is just eight blocks from St. John's Regional Medical Center, which was destroyed by a direct hit from the EF-5 tornado. That hospital is being rebuilt, but Freeman was undamaged.

The ceremony's speakers included Gov. Jay Nixon and 17-year-old tornado survivor Malichi Murdock, who was struck by debris at a local community theater.

Japan minister visits nuke plant amid safety worry

Japan's environment and nuclear minister visited the tsunami-crippled Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power plant on Saturday to inspect a spent fuel pool at the center of safety concerns and said it appeared to have been properly reinforced.

The visit by Goshi Hosono, apparently aimed at demonstrating the safety of the facility, came amid renewed concerns about conditions at the plant's No. 4 reactor after its operator reported a bulging of the building's wall. Nuclear regulators ordered a new investigation and seismic tests of the building and its pool.

The building was damaged by an explosion and fire soon after the Fukushima plant was hit by a massive magnitude-9.0 earthquake and tsunami on March 11, 2011. The pool, located at the top of the building above the reactor, remains one of the plant's biggest risks due to its vulnerability to earthquakes.

The plant's operator, Tokyo Electric Power Co., has reinforced the structure and says it now can withstand temblors as strong as last year's quake.

A small group of journalists was allowed to enter the reactor building for the first time with Hosono. Inside there were piles of broken wall panels, pieces of cement and mangled equipment, showing the magnitude of the explosion.

Hosono, wearing protective coveralls and a full-face mask, climbed a narrow scaffolding to the fifth floor to see the pool, which was covered with a protective tarp. TEPCO officials lifted part of the cover to show the water surface.

Hosono later told reporters that he could see that the pool had been sufficiently reinforced.

"I could see steady progress being made toward removal of the spent fuel (from the pool), which is the next major goal," he said.

The fuel rods in storage pools are not enclosed as they are in reactor cores and could cause a greater release of radiation in case of a loss of water.

Ikko Nakatsuka, a vice minister of reconstruction who saw the No. 4 reactor during a plant tour in April, said earlier this week that the building and its pool are more vulnerable than the other reactors and uncertainties remain.

TEPCO is preparing to move the fuel rods from the pool to a joint pool for all six reactors next to the building, but the process won't start until late next year. The joint pool is located on the ground level and is considered safer, even though it already has 6,000 fuel rods in it, officials said. It is expected to take 10 years before the removal of melted fuel from three damaged reactors can start.

Akio Komori, one of TEPCO executives who escorted Hosono, said the company will inspect the Reactor 4 building to reevaluate its safety to ensure its integrity while continuing with the fuel removal.

From early on, experts have raised concerns about the pool at the No. 4 reactor, where 1,535 fuel rods -- the most of any of Fukushima's six reactors -- were stored because the reactor was undergoing major refurbishing and the fuel ordinarily inside its core was also stored in the pool.

A worst-case scenario envisioned by the head of the Japan Atomic Energy Commission two weeks after last year's accident warned that a melting of the fuel rods at Unit 4 would require the evacuation of 30 million people just from the greater Tokyo area.

There’s a fake town on Google Maps!

The town is called Argleton and was located south of a town called Ormskirk in England. The supposed location of Argleton is an abandoned field west of the A59 motorway. The town was removed from google maps in 2010, but it still lives on in the minds of the internet and even has its own wikipedia page!

?Nobody is quite sure how the town came to be on the map. One explanation is that it?s a paper town, a fake place added to maps to make counterfeits easier to spot.?

Another example of a paper town would be Agloe, New York. This town was created by a map company but was made real by a man who founded the Agloe General store in its supposed location, therefore bringing it into existence.?

Google, however, sticks by the explanation that an error was made when creating the map. They are still not sure how it came to be in their databases.

The mystery of Argleton caused a stir in the local community when it first showed up. One man even walked to the field where it was supposed to be, just to see if it really did exist! ?

So What's The Point Of Doing All Those ... - Frogs Web Hosting

As your web site name is the name and address by which you are known online, it?s the root of your internet identity. First we'll have a look at the correct way to select the right site name for your business from diverse corporations who offer website name registration in Great Britain. So it's vital to create the right website name for your business. Your web site name must be unique. When you go onto any domain registration internet site, it might prompt you with a range of similar possible web domain registration options. If you want to make your own web site, you want to invent a name you wish your internet site to be known as. This name then should be registered with a domain registration company to make sure that it is unique and you become the legal owner of that website name.

You also have to pick a domain extension to attribute to your web site name. For instance if you're a UK business and are only selling to England, it'd be best to select a.co.uk domain extension ? particularly for achieving good UK search engine listings. It is crucial that before registering a site name with a domain registrar that you check that they're a convincing domain registration company. When registering a personal domain you want essentially 3 things : one. Have more liberty for your contents. Own and manage your domain and have it online! Offshore domain registrars are known to supply better privacy protection and most of them don't even collect their customers ? delicate details like the telephone number, address, for example. Once that process is ended, you146,ll have your domain safely residing on your host146,s servers and your internet site ( so long as it146,s been built ) will be prepared to go. Their offshore jurisdictions imply more liberty of contents for your domain and the internet site. Obviously the most significant part of this process is the registration of the site name and this ought to be done promptly, regardless of if it will be years before you146,re prepared to get the site successfully running.

The web domain registration and transfer for your business site is a straightforward process and can be finished thru automated online systems in most situations. Brand or brand recall is the second critical thing that you must consider. To a degree, this info provides legitimacy to the business and the individual owning the business. With your own name being the very first thing your customer will have a look for, you should ensure that they're going to have no problem getting to you. With your own net domain registration, this isn't a difficulty but if you'll have one of those free websites, there isn't any possibility that your customer will even remember the name of your website. So what's the point of doing all those advertising when they can not even remember you? And even from the beginning you have got to consider that you don't have control over your internet site unless you have got your net domain registration.
