Why Email Marketing is Important for Online Business - Blogging Tips

Nowadays, online entrepreneurs maximize the use of the Internet to make their business successful. Financial success conceptThey utilize the social media, search engines, websites and blogs. Through this, they are able to reach to more potential customers and convert these people to actual buyers. Aside from these platforms, online entrepreneurs also recognize the benefits they can derive from email marketing. They know the importance of email marketing as a means of promoting their products and services.

?

First, customers only give their email addresses to the people or company they trust. An online entrepreneur can make use of these email addresses to promote products and services, relay updates about the company or advertise discounts and freebies. Customers will surely appreciate it if the email is personal. They will definitely find time to read the email.

?

Second, communication through email is very easy and convenient. In most cases, the feedback or the reply from the customers are quick. Online entrepreneurs do not have to hire SEO experts, create blogs or make a page in a social network to attract as many customers as possible. They can directly contact a customer through email. If the email is interesting and relevant for the customers, online entrepreneurs will surely get positive feedback.

?

Third, email marketing is not expensive. In any business, costs should be lessened as much as possible to gain maximum profit. There is no need to increase the budget for advertising and marketing if email is used. All an online entrepreneur needs are personal computer, Internet connection and an email address. He will also not spend so much time and effort especially if the email is sent in bulk or to a group of customers at the same time.

?

Fourth, as mentioned, emails are utilized by online entrepreneurs to promote products and services. But it could also be used by the customers to voice out their feedback, concerns or even complaints. Online entrepreneurs should capitalize on these because any feedback from the customers, whether positive or negative, may be considered in improving every aspect of the business.

?

Fifth, email marketing can greatly help in directing traffic to the website. At the end of the email, it is best that the website of the company should be added so that the customers will just click the link and visit the website. This is much better compared to placing a website address in TV or print advertisement which the customers will more likely forget or ignore.

?

Sixth, email marketing will not annoy customers. There are companies that contact customers through phone calls. There are times when customers feel that these companies disturb them. Overdoing the updates and promotion of products and services will really annoy the customers to the highest level. Most of the time, one engaging email is enough to entice them to purchase certain products and services.

?

Email marketing is not new in the business world. But it has ensured online entrepreneurs who have utilized it a profitable business. There may be other means of reaching out to the customers but email marketing remains to be one of the most effective.

NBC Sports, Cowboys partner on red zone view

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) ? NBC Sports Group and the Dallas Cowboys are partnering on a new 360-degree look at red zone plays for TV viewers and fans attending the game at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, this season.

The network will use 24 high-speed cameras ? 12 in each red zone on both sides of the field from the 20-yard line to the goal line and in the back of each end zone ? to produce seamless views of the action.

"Sunday Night Football" producer Fred Gaudelli said the system will give fans a new perspective on big plays during games. The 360-degree view will debut on the Sept. 8 broadcast of the New York Giants-Cowboys game.

The Giants have yet to lose at newly christened AT&T Stadium.

The system, known as FreeD or free dimensional video, will be used for the Oct. 5 Notre Dame-Arizona State game, and the Oct. 13 Washington Redskins-Cowboys game at the stadium.

Fans in the stadium will see red zone replays on the scoreboard at all Cowboys home games, as well as on the team's local programming during the season.

"You can now move all the way around the play without changing the camera angle," Gaudelli told the Television Critics Association on Saturday.

He compared the view to what it's like playing a video game.

Gaudelli said it takes a month to install the system, so NBC had to put it at a stadium where the network knew it would televise at least twice during the NFL season.

He said the Cowboys wanted to partner on the replay system because the team is focused on cutting edge technology and innovation.

The FreeD system is from Replay Technologies Inc., which has worked on Olympic broadcasting and live telecasts of New York Yankees games.

In other "Sunday Night Football" news, NBC Sports Group said a new bus will travel the country during the season visiting the 17 cities where the games originate.

The bus will arrive two or three days before each game. Along for the ride will be four fans of the week chosen based on their social media activity, team pride and interest in "SNF." Besides the bus trip, they'll also receive game tickets.

Also debuting on Sept. 8 will be Carrie Underwood singing "Waiting All Day for Sunday Night," the show's theme song that opens the "SNF" telecast.

She replaces fellow country music star Faith Hill, who decided not to return for a seventh season.

Apple has partially restored its main website for developers, eight days after shuttering it in response to a cyber attack that prompted a harried upgrade to prevent future breaches.

Apple's developer site, which the company uses to communicate with its community of close to 6 million software developers, was back online on Friday, though some sections, including the forums and the member center, were still offline.

The company had blocked access to the site after an intrusion last week and it is still not clear what data, if any, was compromised by the attack.

An Apple spokesperson confirmed that the company had sent an email to its developer community informing them about the incident.

"Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles, software downloads, and other developer services are now available," Apple said in the email and on a developer update page on the site.

Seven of the 15 services on the website, including the iOS, Mac and Safari developer centers, were online at 8:15 p.m. ET on Friday.

News of the developer site being restored was earlier reported by technology blog AllThingsD.

Walmart halts India-specific lobbying in U.S.

Global retail giant Walmart has stopped its lobbying with the U.S. lawmakers on India-specific issues, after continuously seeking their support for about five years to facilitate its entry into the high growth Indian market.

The disclosure incidentally comes at a time when Indian government is preparing a report to be presented in Parliament next month based on findings of a probe into Walmart?s U.S. lobbying activities for getting an access to India.

According to the latest lobbying disclosure reports filed by Walmart and its registered lobbyists with the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives, the company spent close to $2 million (about Rs. 12 crore) on various lobbying activities during the second quarter ended June 30.

However, no India-specific matter figures among close to three dozen issues discussed by Walmart and its lobbyists with the lawmakers in the U.S. during this period.

This has come as a major departure from the prior period lobby disclosure reports, including that for the preceding quarter (January-March 2013) wherein ?Discussions related to FDI in India? figured as one of the lobbying issues, the Congressional records show.

The company had spent a similar amount of about $2 million in the previous quarter as well on its lobbying activities, which are being undertaken by it directly as also through close to ten other registered lobby firms.

The matters related to FDI rules in India have figured among the ?specific lobbying issues? for the company since at least 2008. It could not be ascertained whether Walmart has permanently stopped lobbying on India-related issues, or it is only a temporary halt.

Walmart and many other overseas supermarket chains have been wanting to set shop for many years in India, which opened up this business for foreign players last year with a 51 per cent equity cap despite stiff political opposition.

Still, there are many restrictions, such as those on sourcing of products, that are keeping foreign multi-brand retailers away from the country.

Source: abcnewsradioonline.com --- Sunday, July 28, 2013
Lake County Sheriff's Office (SACRAMENTO, Calif) -- A missing 15-year-old girl was held captive in a metal box on a California marijuana farm, where she was forced to work and used as a sex slave, according to a federal complaint filed this week. Ryan Balletto, 30, and Patrick Pearmain, 25, are charged with conspiracy to distribute marijuana and using a minor in a drug operation. Balletto also faces a charge of possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking, according to the complaint. Federal authorities said the alleged marijuana-growing operation had been under investigation for 18 months, according to the complaint. In April, after conducting a flyover of property owned by Balletto and detecting what was believed to be two greenhouses full of marijuana plants, authorities from the Lake County Sheriff's Office began preparing a search warrant. The case became more complex when, on April 29, according to the complaint, the Los Angeles Police Department contacted the Lake County Sheriff's Office for "urgent assistance" after detectives received information a missing teen was being held against her will on Balletto's property. Police visited Balletto's home the same day, but found nothing, according to the complaint. The next day, the missing teen called authorities on a cellphone to say she was doing "OK" and was with Balletto in Sacramento, Calif., according to the complaint. Police traced the called to West Sacrame ...

With Brotherhood's fall in Egypt, Hamas faces Gaza's harsh reality again

Hamas, an offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood, never had a better year than when it had an ally in Cairo's top office who considered Gaza's interests.?

By Ahmed Aldabba,?Correspondent / July 27, 2013

Palestinian workers push back a trolley into a smuggling tunnel along the border between the Gaza Strip and Egypt, in Rafah, southern Gaza Strip, Wednesday, July 24. Although Egypt was moving against Gaza's smuggling tunnels even when ousted Egypt President Mohamed Morsi was in power, the crackdown has been intensified since the military resumed formal control.

President Mohamed Morsi's ousting by Egypt's military wasn't just bad news for his Muslim Brotherhood. It was bad news for Gaza's Hamas, which greeted Mr. Morsi's electoral triumph a year ago with the hope that it would end Hamas's economic and political isolation.?

At the time, Hamas leaders and supporters?handed out sweets and fired guns to celebrate the victory of the Muslim Brotherhood, of which Hamas is an offshoot. They figured that open borders with Egypt, after years of sporadic closures by Egypt's Hosni Mubarak following the Hamas takeover of Gaza in 2007, would improve Gazans' quality of life and their own political position.

They were half-right. Hamas never had a better year in Gaza than Morsi's year in power, although his government kept Gaza cut off from Egypt much as Mubarak had in an attempt to keep up ties with Israel and the United States. But Morsi also promised a broader economic opening to the enclave, and there was a new spirit of optimism among Hamas stalwarts on the ground.

The honeymoon period came?to an abrupt end, however, when the Egyptian military removed Morsi on July 3, leaving Hamas to deal with a new-old enemy after 12 euphoric months under the Muslim Brotherhood. The military's animosity toward Hamas is such that when it detained Morsi, one of the accusations made against the former president was that he had contact with the group during his escape from prison in 2011.?

Since the Hamas takeover in 2007, the Egyptian Army has consistently accused it of meddling in Egyptian internal affairs and of being behind?militant?operations in the Sinai Peninsula that have destabilized the region and killed scores of Egyptian soldiers. It did not take long for the military to begin anew its battle with Hamas.?

Gazans choke on tunnel shutdown

Although Egypt was moving against Gaza's smuggling tunnels even when Morsi was in power, the crackdown has been intensified since the military resumed formal control. The Egyptian army has destroyed, shut down, or flooded many of the tunnels, which are important economic lifelines for Gaza. The above-ground, official Rafah crossing is only for foreigners?and Palestinians needing treatment in Egyptian hospitals.

It will be awhile before the political impact of Morsi's fall is felt in Gaza, but the economic pain is already evident ? cars wait in long lines for a few liters of fuel, and the price of smuggled food and construction materials has gone up, with the cost of the latter doubling.?

Hamas has to provide food and goods for the people under its rule or risk unpopularity, Gaza economic analyst Mohsen Abu Ramadan says. But now that the Egyptian military has cracked down on the smuggling tunnels ? destroying 80 percent of them, it said last week ? Hamas can't do so.

"Hamas is responsible?for 1.7 million Palestinians?who need food, fuel, and other goods to continue their lives. Israel does not allow all goods into Gaza, and exports are also banned, so Hamas feels?embarrassed?for being unable to meet the needs of Gaza residents," Mr. Abu Ramadan says.

According to the Gaza economic ministry, the recent tunnel destruction has cost Gaza around $230 million. Hamas Spokesman Sami Abu Zohri appealed to the Egyptian authorities, asking them not to shut down the tunnels until Hamas could find other channels for bringing goods into Gaza.

Mr. Abu Zohri said that most of the tunnels have been destroyed and the remaining ones are not being used because smuggling has ceased amid clashes in the Sinai between the Egyptian military and militants. He adds that the situation was better under Mubarak.?

Abu Ramadan says Hamas?may use the closure to remind the?world?that Gaza is blockaded by Israel and to increase pressure on Israel to lift the blockade.

Friendless, and maybe penniless

Shortages are?not the only problem Hamas now faces.?

For the first time in more than two decades, it has no regional political allies in positions of power ? a huge problem for a?movement?that is heavily dependent on alliances that provide?financial, military, and political support.

Sunni Hamas severed ties with former ally Syria last year over its crackdown on the predominantly Sunni Syrian opposition. ?

The two, along with Iran and Hezbollah, formed the so-called "axis of resistance" that opposed Israel and the West. For decades, Syria embraced Hamas leadership and provided the Islamic movement with funds, weapons, and political support, which were used to wage war against Israel and, later, the more moderate Palestinian party, Fatah.

Hamas turned to Turkey and Qatar to fill the void ? seemingly a far more beneficial alliance than the old one. The Sunni powerhouses have flooded Gaza with cash and construction projects and, as a bonus, they are more palatable to the US and Europe than their former allies.?

But political alliances shift rapidly in this region, and since Egypt's Islamist government was toppled, Hamas's relationship with Turkey and Qatar has seemed to be faltering ? Egypt was the critical link between Gaza and its benefactors because of its shared border.

It is unclear if the new emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamas al-Thani, will continue to support Hamas at the same level of his father, who gave $400 million to Gaza for construction projects. Turkey, meanwhile, is preoccupied with antigovernment protests, as well as containing the fallout from Syria.?

Pedro Vargas ID'd as gunman behind deadly rampage in Hialeah, Florida

Updated at 4:20 p.m. ET

HIALEAH, Fla. A man set fire to his South Florida apartment, killed six people, and held another two hostage at gunpoint before a SWAT team stormed the complex and fatally shot him Saturday, according to police and witness accounts.

"I'm heartbroken," Mayor Carlos Hernandez told reporters during a Saturday afternoon news conference. "It's an extremely sad day in Hialeah."

The ordeal lasted eight hours, with Pedro Vargas running through the building, firing at random and eluding officers for part of it, police said.

Vargas, 43, set a combustible liquid on fire on Friday evening to start the blaze, police spokesman Carl Zogby said.

The building manager and his wife noticed smoke and ran to the apartment. Vargas came out and shot several times, killing both of them, according to the police account.

Shamira Pisciotti told CBS Miami station WFOR-TV the property managers were her parents, 68-year-old Samira and 78-year-old Italo Pisciotti.

"I heard about 15 to 20 shots, and so I went outside, and my neighbors were screaming that my parents have been shot," Pisciotti said.

Vargas then went to his fourth-story balcony and fired 10 to 20 shots in the street, killing a man who was parking a car outside, Zogby said.

Then, Vargas went down to the third floor, kicked the door in on another apartment and killed a man, his wife and their teen daughter.

Zogby said Vargas then ran through the building, firing "at random, in a very irrational fashion."

"He kept running from us as he fired at us, and we fired at him," Zogby said.

He forced his way into an apartment and took two people hostage at gunpoint.

Ester Lazcano lives two doors down from where the shooting began and said she was in the shower when she heard the first shots, then there were at least a dozen more.

"I felt the shots," she said.

Miriam Valdes, 70, lives on the building's top floor ? one floor above where the shooting began. She said she heard gunfire and later saw smoke and what smelled like burned plastic entering her apartment, and ran in fear to the unit across the hall.

A crisis team was able to briefly establish communication with Vargas. Sgt. Eddie Rodriguez said negotiators and a SWAT team tried talking with him from the other side of the door of the unit where he held the hostages.

Valdes said she heard about eight officers talking with him as she stayed holed up at the neighboring apartment. She said officers told him to "let these people out."

"We're going to help you," she said they told him.

She said the gunman first asked for his girlfriend and then his mother but refused to cooperate.

Rodriguez said the talks eventually "just fell apart." Officers stormed the building, fatally shooting the gunman in an exchange of gunfire.

"They made the decision to go in there and save and rescue the hostages," Rodriguez said. Both hostages survived.

Neighbors said the shooter lived in the building with his mother. Police don't believe she was home at the time of the shootings.

"He was a good son," Lazcano said. "He'd take her in the morning to run errands" and took her to doctor appointments.

But Valdes said he was known as a difficult person who sometimes got into fights and yelled at his mother.

"He was a very abusive person," she said. "He didn't have any friends there."

Zogby called Vargas' background "unremarkable." He said police are investigating any possible disputes between Vargas and the building manager but don't yet have any information on a possible motive. "Nobody seems to know why he acted the way he acted," Zogby said.

He said police had not responded to any prior calls at his home or found any criminal background on him.

Zulima Niebles said police told her that three of her family members were among the victims. She said her sister Merly Sophia Niebles, her sister's husband, and her sister's teen daughter Priscila Perez were all shot and killed.

Zulima Niebles' husband, Agustin Hernandez, was moving the family's things out of the apartment building and into his car Saturday. Among them were several photos, one showing the teen smiling in a red graduation gown, another of his sister-in-law in a white dress and pearls.

Hernandez said his sister-in-law's husband was a friend of the building manager.

Marcela Chavarri, director of the American Christian School, said Priscila Perez was about to enter her senior year at the school.

"She was a lovely girl," Chavarri said through tears. "She was always happy and helping her classmates."

In Hialeah ? a suburb of about 230,000 residents, about three-quarters of whom are Cuban or Cuban-American ? the street in the quiet, apartment-building-lined neighborhood was still blocked by tape Saturday afternoon.

The building where the standoff occurred is an aging, beige structure with an open terrace in the middle. It has 90 to 95 units. The apartment where neighbors said the shooting started was charred, the door and ceiling immediately outside burned black.

Zogby called the whole building a crime scene. "He probably fired dozens of shots during the whole incident," he said.

"It could have been a much, much more dangerous situation."
