New York Giants Wide Receiver Situation in ... - Daily Fantasy Sports

victor cruz of the new york giansAh the job of a daily fantasy player, hunt down value picks at all ends of the earth and use them to cash in big time against your opponents. Luckily for those of you who may not be as motivated as I am to find such picks, I am and will forever be willing to give you such information for free (**cough** but please sign up for either FanDuel or Daily Joust **endcough**). So today we are going to take a look at the wide receiver situation that the New York Giants are facing in week 3 as they take on the Philadelphia Eagles, with hopes of helping you finding that one diamond in the rough today. So lets get started.

Hakeem Nicks
Last week Hakeem was battling a knee injury and was a game time decision against the St. Louis Rams. He ultimately ended up playing in the game, caught 3 passes for 15 yards and a touchdown. This weekend however he looks be dealing with Nnamdi Asomugha which is worse than being on Revis Island, but no one has been able to come up with a very good nickname for him yet. If you want a ?safe? bet hes probably it in regards to wide receivers in NY, but don?t get crazy, this won?t be a breakout week by any stretch of the imagination.

Mario Manningham
Now here is where things start to become cloudy for the G-men, the top man opposite Nicks in Super Mario suffered a concussion against the Rams, and will continue to undergo a full battery of tests today before his playing status can be determined. My thoughts are that he will not play, but I cannot say for sure until further news comes out about the results of the testing. I just feel that in the new era of the NFL where we take concussions more seriously he should stay out at least a week, but we?ll see what happens.

Domenik Hixon
As if having happen last year wasn?t enough, Hixon has once again torn his ACL and will require surgery which also means that he is out for the entire season. He was the #3 in NY, and while he only caught 4 passes so far this season, he did score a TD and had 50 total receiving yards.

So whos left?

Victor Cruz
Anyone who watches preseason NFL knows how Cruz was able to light it up for the Giants in some of those games, and had dreams of him doing that for them in the regular season. Well with the Hixon injury he immediately becomes a value pick on all sites. His current prices are FanDuel ($4,500), and Daily Joust($45,000). He might be an interesting play even if Super Mario is on the field, but should Manningham be ruled out this week, he becomes a near must start if you are looking for some serious value, because as I said earlier Nicks will be covered tightly by Nnamdi.

Brandon Stokley
If Super Mario plays he Stokley is nothing more than a 4th option at WR, but should he sit he becomes a #3 who could see some time. Just don?t get your hopes up here because all you?re doing if hes on your team is praying for him to catch a long one, and odds are he won?t be the guy to do it. But being priced at $4,500 on FanDuel and $45,000 on DailyJoust makes him at the very least a super duper deep sleeper pick.

As you can see, Victor Cruz becomes an interesting option if Mario plays, but becomes a must play value pick if he is out for his price. What are your thoughts on the WR situation in New York for this upcoming weekend? Agree with the Cruz pick? Anything? Feel free to comment below.
