Robert asks?

Which is better, mechanical, industrial, or some other type of engineering?

I want to decide what major to take in college. I am in high school and in the process of looking into future careers in engineering or physical sciences. I also want a job that has less traveling and a high salary.

Dan answers:

Mechanical Engineering is the more difficult of the 2, as it requires a more stringent background in physics and mathematics. Industrial Engineering has more of a project management application where Mechanical focuses more on design (and project management too).

Charles asks?

Can a Mechanical Drafter become an Industrial / Product Designer with just an associates degree?

Can a mechanical drafter become an Industrial/Product Designer with just an associates degree in mechanical drafting? Just trying to see if its possible

Dan answers:

A little unlikely unless you have significant work experience in the range of 5-8 years. Since a lot of engineering theory goes into industrial design, companies prefer candidates who have at least a Bachelors degree in engineering with around 3-4 years experience. With an Associate degree, the wait for the top job becomes longer.

Richard asks?

What?s the difference between Industrial Technology & Mechanical Engineering?

Dan answers:

Mechanical engineering includes fluid engineering, thermal engineering, machine design, robotics, machining technology etc. So it includes a part of industrial engg. And it is much more fundamental
industrial engg deals with industrial methods, manufacturing, inspection, machining tech, a bit of civil engg etc., more of a specialised subject

Maria asks?

What are some good FREE industrial or mechanical sound effects online that i could download?

i want to add some sound effects to my electric drums; i could probably edit the effects so they dont necessarily have to go with a rythm

Dan answers:

This?s your request site upload for you :)

Helen asks?

What is the difference between mechanical and industrial engineering?

Dan answers:

Industrial engineers try to look more at the aesthetic aspects of a design. Their job is to make it pretty and attractive to consumers/customers. The mechanical engineer?s job is to make sure it actually works. You can get by without an industrial engineer, but you can?t get by without an mechanical engineer.
