Lenovo announces IdeaPad S2 10 tablet and S2 smartphone

Lenovo, the world's number two computer manufacturer, has announced a duo of new Android products -- the IdeaPad S2 10 tablet and the S2 smartphone.  Checking in at less than 1.5 pounds, the IdeaPad S2 10 tablet has the following specs:

  • 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 8960 dual-core Processor
  • Lenovo's Mondrian custom version of Android 4.0
  • 10.1-inch 1280x800 IPS Display
  • 1GB RAM
  • 16GB/32GB/64GB Internal Storage
  • Wifi and 3G Connectivity
  • micro USB, micro SD, Micro HDMI ports
  • 5MP rear camera and 1.3MP front facing camera
  • Integrated keyboard dock also available

The Lenovo S2 smartphone claims to be running a secure version of the Linux kernel (such things do exist) that protects personal data.  We'll have to wait to see that in action, but in the meantime here's the specs:

  • 1.4GHz Qualcomm MSM8255 processor
  • Lenovo Magic 3.0 UI (Android 2.3)
  • 3.8-inch 800x480 TFT display
  • 8MP camera and .3MP VGA front facing camera
  • 512MB RAM for devices with 8GB internal storage
  • 1GB RAM for devices with 16GB internal storage
  • Micro USB port
  • HDMI and MHL Connectivity
  • 1500mAh battery

Initially these will be available in China, but they are both expected to make their way to the rest of the world.  CES hasn't even officially started folks.  Get ready!
